Most software systems are organized in different modules ton increase transparency and simplify management. The operations by which these modules are created and altered are well known. This master thesis looks into the long-range development of such models. The student is expected to look at the major software suites on the market and describe their modular development over time. He or she should look at 1) the technical modules designed by software engineering, 2) the distinctions made between different fields of applications as a sort of business modules, 3) the interface design and 4) the units in the company responsible for the modules.
This topic provides enough substance for several theses. Students can also pursue the analysis as a project. Students with connections to companies are invited to use these companies as a field of study.
