Contents and objectives

The course intends to give the participants a thorough understanding of the IT and IT-enabled services industry in India. We shall explore the growth of the industry from the late 1980s until now. This course will cover the following topics:

  • Birth and growth of IT clusters in India
  • Cooperation between IT companies in India
  • Outsourcing & offshoring: advantages and disadvantages
  • Outsourcing & offshoring: inherent risks and opportunities
  • Indian IT: moving up the value chain
  • Global delivery models used in this industry
  • Global outlook for outsourcing and offshoring
  • Current challenges faced by the industry in India

Additionally the course will cover specific aspects of the Indian history, culture and business etiquettes. This is to help students better understand Indian culture and feel comfortable dealing with Indian companies in the future.
